JON’S JOTTINGS, BY THE CHAIRMAN

What a wonderful Model Flying Club we have. Since moving to Oldfield we have increased our membership by 30%. Welcome to all our newer members. We have also gained two junior members who represent the future and hopefully will encourage further juniors. Quite large numbers turn up on good flying days yet there never seems to be a problem to get a slot to fly.

Thank you to all our instructors who have been helping our less talented pilots – myself included and thank you to Alex Bush for his untiring work on the condition of Oldfield. His well deserved Certificate of Achievement from the BMFA is now in his possession. Our other legacy sites at Longham Lakes and the Purbecks have their followers and get used as the prevailing wind dictates. Regrettably our use of Win Green has been curtailed as Compton Abbas airfield has a new owner who is in negotiation with ourselves and Wimborne club to agree a new Memorandum of Understanding. Win Green is in the Flight Restriction Zone of Compton Abbas so we need an agreement from Compton to fly at Win Green.

We have the luckiest man alive in our club who had a medical issue and his car drove into a large tree at 50mph. He escaped with minor injuries. Well done Barry – perhaps you could give me the winning lottery numbers!

I wish all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year.

Jon
