COLIN DEAN - A LETTER FROM FRANK BAYES Hi Mike He joined the Club in the 1970’s, and is a great model maker with superb wood working skills, and is an extraordinary repairer. He made a presentation Gavel and Mallet to present to Terry Antell when he retired as Chairman. He has restored more than one WotsWot Biplane that was reduced to a bag of laser cut balsa bits, to perfect as new condition. I have managed to get some photos attached. Colin has disposed of many of his models so photos are a bit thin on the ground.,Some are better quality than others, maybe you can choose the best ones? He did a lot of slope soaring with very large Pat Teakle models made from plans etc over the years. He still has one special one to finish with an electric motor on the top of the fuselage. Photos BKB 1 very large scale slope soarer, with wing tip rudder/brakes. Only two real ones were ever made, built from plans. This model is actually yet to fly. Miles Sparrowhawk built in balsa from plans. Incidence jig for rebuilding planes with perfect alignment. Wildcap which Colin has given to me to finish off with electrics etc. The Vampire is his own design, larger than standard size, built in balsa from modifed plans, with a 90mm EDF. Photos are not good of that one unfortunately. A couple of examples of his woodworking skills as well just for info. A presentation Box and Cutlery for Breast Cancer fundraising and a laminated wooden box of unusual design.
