CLUB FIRST FLIGHTS IN 2024: JANUARY AND FEBRUARY
Despite the seemingly endless poor weather there were maiden flights at Oldfield on some of the better days: Trevor’s Arrows Avanti, maidened on 1 Feb - “Uneventful” he says. Jon’s EDF conversion of a Lidl glider. Parts from a retired Arrows Viper, carbon rods in the wings. John’s Fournier “maiden flight and crash at Oldfield, not significantly damaged” he says He also maidened this Club Swap Meet Special “Sorted a warped wing, put a battery in and it flies beautifully: quite hard to get it down as it floats!” Mark’s Addiction X, previously Mike R’s, before that it was Ian Wettstein’s and the first owner was Trevor! Richard Davies’s Sukhoi 31 by Phoenix models, converted to electric power, ready built and covered in artf form. “The manual is very poor with missing info and often refers to a different model altogether :(“ Maiden flight for Andy Donovan with his Viper 90 25th Feb.. “Bit nerve-wracking on the first 2 packs but all went well and managed to relax a little for packs 3 and 4. It's quick” (no kidding! - Ed) Phil Hubble’s maiden (and the first helicopter maiden this year) “SAB Goblin Kraken 700 KSE. Very successful first few flights with enough confidence to wring her out on the 3rd battery and pulled 230A, Cheers Phil”
