JON’S JOTTINGS (or, the Chairman’s Chatter)

A few things have happened since my last jottings, and a few more that haven’t happened!

We held our first Club evening meeting at the Bransgore Village Hall on Wednesday 4th August which was attended by 21 members. The bits box did a roaring trade and made over £100 for the club. For our first meeting in well over a year and in a holiday period I think it went well.

Our Open Day on 24th August was a great success and the weather co-operated as well. I didn’t count the total attending but I think it was around 50. Excellent flying was had and a great competition organised by Alan Butterworth. The BBQ was well received by all thanks to the Head Chef, Nick King, and his team. The whole thing was master minded by Alex Bush who put his heart and soul into the job, and it showed.

On Wednesday 1st September we will be having the next club meeting, this time with a guest speaker from Microaces.

The Stanpit Challenge held on Friday evenings seems to be progressing well with quite respectable turnout. Quite a few members have been flying other types of models which is excellent and adds to the evening.

We have booked the hall at Durlston Court School for the autumn indoor flying series starting on 24th September which the school have acknowledged but we wait final approval from the school governors.

Regrettably I cannot report any progress with the Picnic Site as the Army appears to stopped communicating with me. Something to do with summer holidays. I have to say I am not feeling very hopeful for a satisfactory outcome which is a pity.

Let’s hope we all stay clear of Covid and continue to enjoy our flying.
