CONSTRUCTION AND FINISH 2024

We had a decent entry for this year’s C&F, although to be fair, not all of them had flown, Here are the models, with as much detail as I could remember from the evening:

C&F1

Richard Docketty’s SG-1, built from a plan with some mods. Score 153, the highest of the evening, but as it had not flown, it could not win. Richard promised to enter it again next year after its siccessful flights. Peter Chaldecott will want me to say that he painted the nose. That wing under the SG-1 is Peter’s, part of a joint build with Trevor Hewson.

C&F 3

Roger Villiers’ “Bits Box Special” - a self-explanatory title. Scored 110 but also not flown

C&F 2

Mike Edwards’ Simprop Excel, plan built. He finished it the evening before, and so unsurprisingly it was not flown. It scored 114, so pretty much a tie for the two electric gliders.

C&F 4

Clive Spencer’s elderly but still immaculate Grumman Albatross. This was first flown in June 2013 and has been in a previous C&F, so could not count - anyway it was brought so that Richard and the Ed, who both have the plans (by Ivan Pettigrew - who else) could be amazed and inspired. It scored 149!

C&F 5

John Taylor brought along his plan built Comper Swift. It was originally a rubber-powered free flight model, but the lack of anywhere decent to fly it after Middle Wallop was closed to us resulted in a conversion to RC. Score was 115 and was actually second overall.

C&F 6

The only model in the Foamie class, Neil King’s LIDL glider converted to EDF won the class.

C&F 8

A rogue entry by any standard, the Veron Sky Scooter was actually built by Mr Veron, the late Phil Smith and brought to the meeting by David Bintcliffe. Its build and finish put many models to shame and it scored 124.

C&F 1

The Ed’s Hawker Sea Fury, a depron build from 3-views. Score was 137 and as the highest scoring flown model took home the winner’s shield. Until next year.
