JON’S JOTTINGS, BY THE CHAIRMAN

We have had a pretty reasonable summer as far as weather is concerned (?? - Ed) although I am not sure the Friday evening competitors would agree whole heartedly. There have been some days with a lot of members at Oldfield and pretty intensive flying. There have been a number of days when our various slopes have had a fair amount of use as well. Longham Lakes perhaps has not had the use it deserves bur the reeds have held things back.

Our Fun Day in July fell victim to the weather but Mike and Andy put on an ad hoc day a couple of weeks later. Thanks to all involved. The programme shows a full replacement Fun Day on 15th September but this has not yet been discussed – more information to come.

Oldfield has definitely improved this summer although the two metre high Sweet Corn crop has added a degree of difficulty to our normal flying.

Disaster struck with the failure of our ride-on mower but thanks to help from the members and the co-ordination management of Richard we now have it back even if our bank account is considerably reduced.

I have to apologise for personal absences throughout the period but the lure of caravanning beckoned. Unfortunately, just as I was ready to play my part again both myself and my wife fell victim to a virus that I would not wish on anyone. A month later and we both are not back to normal but slowly improving.

All for now.
