WIN GREEN, SEPTEMBER 4TH 2024 by David Bicker Hi Mike, 6 of us were present, 5 flew. Wind was forecast to be off NW most of the day, but in the end it was OK most of the day from 10am to 4:30pm.I can't name all present accurately as 2 of the guys aren't on our Faces page. Brian & Mike, another Dave, Steve, myself, & "old" Jim spectating/snoozing whenever the sun came out. 3 Red Kites, 2 Buzzards & a Kestrel were sharing the slope with us, plus some of the Compton Abbas flights were coming over very close to us. We had notified them that we were flying. Plenty of banter & a fair bit of flying took place. Anything from the tiny Pug, though some sporty numbers, Zagi's, to my Phoenix 2400 were flown. I maidened my recently (yesterday) converted Pug v2.1 to V-tail conversion. I flew it 5x during the day for a total of 1hr's flying. A bit of trimming out the elevator function first flight & then it flew well. Balance was unchanged from the original tailplane/fin build. For speed of setup I had set up the TX on a default V-tail model configuration, which was challenging to use as it had Elev on the right stick & Rud on the left stick. (No ailerons on this model). The number of times that I found myself pushing the right stick sideways to steer it - only to remember & quickly steer it with the left stick! I normally fly 2ch models just on the right stick (Rud/Elev). I'll see if I can migrate the Ch4 settings to Ch1 & still get a V tail mix out of it, using the right stick only. Much easier! I plan to take it with me to fly off the dunes at Woolacombe at the end of this month. All agreed that it was a good day's flying. 2 pics of Brian Brockway flying his Gentle Lady, plus some of my Pug.
