JAN BASSETT UMX TIMBER ON FLOATS
I finally got around to fitting floats to my UMX Timber.
I wasn’t keen on just having the air rudder, so made a water rudder using carbon sheet, some 3D printed parts, small BA bolts and a spring; the rudder assembly weighs just under 2gm. I fitted a second control horn to the rudder and have connected the rudder using thin fishing line, some recycled control links and a couple of springs. The flying weight has increased by only 15g to 130g and most of that is using a 400mAh pack instead of the normal 260mAh pack to assist with achieving the CofG; always better to have functional ballast in my opinion.
I’ve attached a couple of photos; to allay any doubts the coin is a 5p piece.
