PETER CHALDECOTT, ANOTHER PETREL
Just spent a happy hour of isolation shaping and sanding two miles of leading edge!!!
Keep the glue flowing.

Aileron antics today.
Anyone who has built one of Mr Williams’ fine designs will know what fun I’m having today!!!
Note my use of 25mm sq balsa to keep the leading edge straight and true whilst fettling the ribs and gluing them to the trailing edge. Will it help? We shall see!!!!!!
Needless to say, it’s a perfect flying day today :-(
I used to enjoy making ailerons. Not any more!!!! And I’ve still got another one to go!
18 April - Pleased to have finally got two ailerons that fit nicely and that work! I need some sort of tape to secure and supplement the hinges as recommended by Chris Williams
It’s Canopy Capers today, but there is also a distraction!!!! More on that later.
Regarding the Canopy Frame, I have departed from that clever Mr Williams’ design and instead of his laminated spruce side rails I’ve substituted a fla base of 3mm ply shaped to suit the outside fuselage profile.
Progress continues!
Distraction! In response to Trevor, who took Peter to task for having FOUR EDF models, he said “The Albatross is worth every penny!!! - and I’ve bought it from my savings from not going out, so really it’s cost me nothing! The finish on these foam EDFs just gets better and better. I have the camo version, and you’d be hard pressed to know that it is a foam model. Looks way better than any of the other jets that I have.
Right, back to my canopy frame and instrument binnacle for the Petrel.
