Sloping Off - March 2005

Editorial

If you find this a fairly thin edition, I'm afraid that's because I have not had much to put in it!  Terry Antell has continued his successful run with 2 more articles which track his flying progress from tentative slope soaring to full-on aerobatics.  Christopher Morris's piloting skills are an entirely different league and I suspect that we will soon see him competing at National level.  His control over the model you see on the cover is just astonishing as well as being a tribute to his Dad's support and encouragement.

Your Committee will soon be completely reconstituted with the departure of some household names.  Chairman Clive Spencer is having to stand down and his support and enthusiasm will be greatly missed.  Anyone wanting to play a bigger part in the Club just has to get in touch before the AGM - please don't be shy!

The Committee had a concerted go at getting a better flying site and social venue for evening flying.  After a suggestion from the floor at the last AGM we contacted the BAE Systems Social Club: they have a really good bar and a large field, but unfortunately they were not prepared to let ut fly there, even with small park fly models, so we are still looking for a suitable site with a field and a bar or club adjacent.

Any suggestions?
