Summer Thermal Series
This has got off to a bad start with no flying on the 3rd, 17th
or 24th of May. However, on the 10th, both Brian Brockway and
Alan Parker recorded maximums of six minutes. The maximum for
June is seven minutes and a full set of the rules can be found
in the March 2002 edition of Sloping Off.
Electric Evening, Friday 12th July, Kings Park
A chance to show off your latest creations, plus a few low key
comps, such as carrier deck, pylon, etc., weather permitting.
Assemble about 6pm. Members of other clubs will be welcome.
Slope Pylon Racing, ad-hoc
We might have a try at racing around two 26ft fishing poles set
up approximately 100yds apart, with the pilots standing in the
middle. It has already been tried with just one pole and three
Zagis, and proved to be exciting.
Construction & Finish Trophy
With only one other club night in Stanpit Hall on September 13th,
all you expert builders need to have your efforts available for
then for the final judging before the AGM on 11th October. So
far this year there have been a number of models of a very high
standard.
Rose Bowl Thermal Competition, Sunday 25th August
The Venue will again be in the New Milton area. The exact rules
for this year have not yet been decided but the idea will be to
encourage as much thermal flying as possible with a small bonus
for skill in landing. Let's have a few of these hi-tech machines
out and see if you can beat John Cheesman with his 'Cirrel'!
Peg- hogging
With the recent large turnouts on the slopes on Sundays it is
inevitable that there will have to be some channel sharing, sometimes
between three or more. Please can you all try and ease the situation
by working together and in particular try to avoid hogging the
peg whilst you carry out a lengthy setting-up procedure - this
is best carried out away from the flying site.
