Do You Remember When?
by Ian Parrett

(I can't remember what started us off, but Ian and I got to exchanging a few reminiscences by e-mail. Then he sent me some pictures..... Ed)
First, a picture of me with my 6/1d Veron No.6, my first model kit in my carefree days in 1944 - when we used the fairways on Queen's Park golf links for our gliding fun while the grown up young men fought for our lives and freedom. Why did we build the channel tunnel I have to ask?

Showing off time now! Here's the rest of my aeromodelling memorabilia. Left: Ron Warring's 'Aeolus' scaled up a bit.
Right: A 'Mick Farthing Lightweight' which was the best flier of the lot - I might get round to designing an electric version of that one day....

...and lastly: a KK Rover with ED 2cc diesel and no RC - which taught me several things:-

i) If the flying speed/wing loading is too high for hand launch glide testing, get the CG right and then pray.
ii) Don't fill the tank for the first flight.
iii) Go easy on the paint.
iv) If you want to go home with the wings, don't fly near telephone wires.
