Sandown 2002
Trevor Hewson reports on a cosy, if costly, pilgrimage

Before
They are a friendly lot in our club - and sometimes they have to be.

This first picture shows the motley crew just before they were shoehorned into the people mover in the background.

On the way up, there was the usual conversation along the lines of 'What are you going to buy, then?' In the back row, this soon degenerated into an argument between Clive and Neil, the latter eventually declaring 'Well, you won't be allowed back into the car without a large box!'

After
Here you can see the fruits of our trip. From right to left, we have: Gordon Coy - carbon rods and other building materials, Derek Longman - speed controller, Phil Howard - Kyosho F16, Jim Ruffell - Dragon Lady, Neil Longman - Multiplex Skycat plus bag of other expensive bits, Yours truly - Mikado Logo 10, plus (not shown) a bag of equally expensive bits, and finally, Chairman Clive, with the cheapest big box he could find - which happened to contain a table lamp.

At the time of writing, one of these models is still in its box, one is built and unflown, one is flying and one has already been re-kitted. Oh, and the table lamp is going great, apparently.
