FLAT FIELD FLYING AND GALLERY
Just follow the links
Our main flying field for fixed wing and rotary is on Sopley Farm, a few miles north of Christchurch - Oldfield
Our previous field, Strawberry Field is theoretically still available, but...
and two public sites: Stanpit Recreation Ground in Christchurch
and Fawcett’s Field in New Milton
We also fly at Chalbury, a Wessex SA site, for our annual Rose Bowl thermal soaring competition.
We’ve also flown at private sites, where you have to be a member to fly:
BEAULIEU
This site is managed by the Beaulieu Model Flying and is the only IC power flying site in the New Forest. A number of Club members belong - it’s easy to join - http://www.beaulieumodelflying.org.uk/ will get you to their website
The site has a large concrete area to fly from but some wind directions can be tricky.
COUNTY MODEL FLYING CLUB
This Club operates from a superb private field about 8 miles north of Shaftsbury, about 75 minutes drive from Christchurch. Some Club members have joined for the opportunities to fly without any restrictions like trees, fences and so on, aero-tow large gliders or fly EDF from the close-cropped grass or even turbines when permitted. So if you would like to join County MFC, please ask Trevor Hewson, Peter Chaldecott or Mike Roach for details.
