Chairman’s chatter

Terry Antell

We’ve had varied weather during the year. Generally windy! Once again wind has been the main problem and too much rain. The wind has mainly been Northerly with a LARGE NE element. Still, all good modellers look forward to better times. Let’s hope they are forthcoming.

Club meetings have been well attended and we have had many varied talks (with film & slides) to educate & entertain members.

If ANY of you wish to have a subject presented at a club meeting, just tell me. I’ll always try & find someone to cover the subject. I’VE SAID THIS MANY TIMES, BUT NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE!

Like you, I need more happy landings,

Indoor Flying has been okay this autumn but the room has been restricted by 25%. This caused by the school building new classrooms & store. On Friday 6th November we had the hall back to full space. A relief for all us indoor flyers.

Following the presentation by Hampshire & IOW Air Ambulance, in October, we managed to send them £185. Thanks to the members on the night for your great support of this worthy cause.

Next year on our 50th we anticipate putting on a number of special events!.

At club meetings in 2016 we have the annual club quiz in January, Trevor Hewson &  Jon Couldridge demonstrating setting up a helicopter (smaller, lighter type) at the February meeting, and at the March meeting, Ray Smith will be with us demonstrating FPV quad racing, using a new simulator which you will be invited to have a go with. Ray was flying at the NEC in Birmingham in early December 2015.

At the January meeting I’ll be having “pigs in blankets, with bowls of chips” supplied by The Walkford.

Through out the year I’ve tried to find various groups to give us talks and films as you can read above. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to register interest with individuals and companies to attend our club meetings. Almost always we get away without a charge!!

I wish to congratulate the complete committee of 2015 for their support and encouragement. We’ve had 6 committee meetings (Dec 14 to end Nov 15.)

Happy safe flying (and landings),

Terry
