16 October
Three Musketeers met this am at Longham and as predicted I was a bit late unfortunately.
Peter’s new “Sea. Wind” was maidened and apparently flew really well ...second flight was aborted due to loose elevator hinges ...but a good start, and Peter thought that his dosh had been well invested.
Simon’s smaller Tundra flew well ...up to its usual high standard ...including a good demo flight for 2 young(ish) ladies, who clearly were very impressed with Simons smooth approach.......( flying not talking?)
Then there was Peter’s new Cessna Agwagon on floats ....which were unfortunately mounted a bit too far back allowing the nose to dig in somewhat...This stopped him demonstrating it to the two young ladies....clearly he will have to ease his undercarriage further forwards for full success...?
I must say that when I think of crop sprayers I think of Piper Pawnee rather than Cessna Agwagon...the kit assembles into an attractive aeroplane ,whose flight characteristics should be available after some modifications. (According to the Master, the bow of the floats should be half the prop diameter in front of the prop, and the tail half the distance between the wing TE and the tailplane LE. The step should be just behind the CG - Ed)
Afterwards we all walked round both lakes and saw a number of interesting birds.....mainly the LBJ type
Best wishes David Bintcliffe
