STRAWBERRY FIELD
Before we leave SF for pastures new, I thought it was time to remember all the good time we have had there. So I’ve added a page to the main Website here where we can look back on what were in fact 11 years of happy, eventful, occasionally heartbreaking, funny and, let’s face it, very good value for money flying, and thank Terry Antell and Malcolm Bird and all the committee at that time. Malcolm signs off: Mike Cooper, the owner of Strawberry Field has supported, served & helped the Club exceptionally well. From our first meeting with him in March 2013, he assisted us through the NFDC planning application & agreed to all the BMFA requirements at on site meetings. He has not increased the flying fee all the time we have flown there, he has in fact given us free access to any of our organised Club functions. He has given us many happy hours of flying in a safe area which has sustained members' interest over a long period including during the Covid restrictions. Now he has transferred the running of Strawberry Field to his son, it is true the relationship & limited use of the amenities has caused problems & more expense, thus making it a less desirable facility. As it is Remembrance Day, let us not forget pleasurable times the good companionship we have spent flying our models at Strawberry Field. Cheers Malcolm Bird (Club Secretary 19.. to 2020 and author of the Planning Permission that won us the right to fly at Strawberry Field - Ed) |
