Indoor Chuckie Glider Event 7th August 19
(Build it & Fly it Evening)
As can be seen from the results it was quite a close contest.
Many members had the same total score with the 1st section, being distance. It was the duration that sorted things out, but only just.
All models flew rather well considering there was a one hour time limit to build & test fly the model WITHOUT having plans or pre-marked out balsa wood.
I decided to keep the final marked up scores as seconds & 100th of seconds, plus just add the distance scores to give final placings. No’s 2 & 3 were particularly close. Mike Roach would have been 3rd but just one of his duration flights let him down (flight 3.)
Perhaps next time we’ll clear away the Bits Box sales area completely which will help reduce carnage to models!
Well done to all.

(Interesting that most of us went for the “soarer” option, not the “arrow” The hall is just too small for duration attempts. David B’s winner just flew really nicely. I thought his 2-angle dihedral was much better and of course stronger than the centre dihedral most of us chose. What a great evening it was.
Next time perhaps we could buy 15 or 20 rubber-powered simple models (from Bang Good perhaps??) - Ed)
