	HURN MODEL FLYING GROUP (Avon Model Flying Field)

This is NOT a CDMFC field but a completely separate group with a membership fee of its own. We’ve included it because it has a number of advantages. Some of us joined when Strawberry Field was closed and have enjoyed a very good and usually pretty quiet site. The field in use is moved around by the land owner depending on his “crop rotation”.

It is a very flat field, with closely mown grass (it’s actually on a “Sod Farm”). IC power, ducted fan and (presumably, although I’m not certain) gas turbines are allowed to fly. But because it is next to Bournemouth Airport, the height limit is 400ft, which rules out serious glider flying. Detail of how to join are at the foot of the page.


		The pits usually backs onto a hedge and there is lots of room for models, chairs, lunch etc. Big models are quite common and there is often “proper engine noise”.



	There’s about 400 metres of grass to the south and west at the moment. The flight line is marked by a traffic cone. Trevor taxying in after a successful Rapide flight.


Flying is very relaxed and the group members are very friendly. Here’s Barry with his 60” span FMS (?) Corsair. He’s doing relaxation excercises because this was the (successful) maiden flight

The cut strip is how the farmer takes off turf for sale.

The close cut allows models with quite small wheels to be flown. Here’s Barry’s Dynam Me 262.
