Rosebowl Elec Thermal Comp

CD Terry Antell
It was a dry day with just a little variable wind at 9.30am. We started at 10.45am and endured a light 7mph wind, mainly from the south. This remained but with gusts around 13mph.
As can be seen from the results, Alan Butterworth won for the second year in succession for the Christchurch club. So, well done Alan. Nigel Bennet came second representing Wessex Soaring Association. Doug Bowman came third.
I actually designated who represented which club. Those just in Christchurch or Wessex clubs represented their clubs. Most entrants actually are members of both club so I made a Contest Directors decision on who represented who BEFORE we started.
Each round was one hour and two flights could be taken. Only the last flight to count for scoring. There were three one hour rounds.
This year we had eleven entries and I decided Christchurch should have six pilots flying for the club. That meant Wessex only had five on their side.
In 2015 we had nine entries and Wessex had five to their credit. Christchurch just had four.
The results are here for all to follow.
I did well but in round two I decided to fly twice. The second flight meant I needed to put power on to save the model from a hedge that was calling to the Ather, hence a zero score. Jon Couldridge had his last two flights that both scored zero in round 3.
Ashley Pentney & David Shipton were the only Christchurch pilots not members of WSA. Nigel Bennet, Roger Crickmore & Geoff Collins were the only guys not members of Christchurch.
Lift was not in abundance although wind at higher levels was. No bad or unsafe flying and no damage sustained to models. Perhaps we can do it all again in 2017??
Cheers, Terry
