Chairman’s Chatter

I heard a rumour that Spring is just around the corner. Which corner I want to know? We’ve had wet winters in recent years but this time accompanied by hellish winds.

We shall be having a committee meeting very soon to establish  dates for the “Fruit Bowl” trophy, and also the club Fun Comp & BBQ at Strawberry Field.

The Fruit Bowl replaces the Rose Bowl that resembled an Urn!! Anyway, it’s the annual electric glider comp flat field thermal comp. We need to get an agreement from Wessex Soaring Assoc as we hold it on a field of theirs at Chalbury.

I was going to try and get a few afternoons together for soldering, covering models and also cutting and gluing wood & foam but my health took a battering as I had bronchitis & pneumonia which put me under for quite a few weeks, now leaving me with breathless moments and angina attacks.

I don’t think too much of this being old lark!

Indoor Flying has continued and time you read this there will be just two more evenings for Spring 2020 at Durlston Court School during March.

Don’t forget, this will be my last year as Club Chairman so PLEASE consider coming forward and taking the reins. While I’m still around I’ll be able to help you with what’s happening, etc.

Recently I’ve been getting on with assembling the Wot’s Wot. It being my second one does make things easier and I had a few items like the electric kit which had survived the last landing over a year ago! Okay, they are all landings, it’s just the last one wasn’t so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!
