“Operator to the Paint mixing area, customer waiting”

 by tim calvert

In his previous article, Tim Calvert showed how the B&Q  paint mixing area could produce International Orange for  Andrew Tubb’s DH Beaver. You’ll remember he said:

International Orange has an RGB colour of  255, 79, 0, and sticking that in http://www.easyrgb.com/index.php?X=SEEK#Result and selecting either RAL or NCS paint options will give the nearest paint matches. Dulux computers understand RAL and NSC paint codes. RAL 2004 for example is pretty near match, ask in B&Q for RAL 2004 and the computer will mix up a pot for you.”

He concludes his expert advice with more on colour choice, and how to you find out the RGB number of a colour, in order to find its RAL option.

Now to find the RGB colour, International Orange has is own Wikipedia page on the internet, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_orange.

Try the following link http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/f10-general-skinning-repainting/world-war-i-colour-charts-371/   where you will find an invaluable source of details on WW1 paint colours and other useful information.

The link at http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_uk.htm is very useful and provides loads of details on colours used  on RAF plans of all ages as well as links to details of other foreign air forces.

Use the conversion program at http://www.easyrgb.com/index.php?X=SEEK#Result to provide the paint code you need for the paint mixing machine

Then pop along to B&Q and get them to make their call!
