Chairman’s chatter

Thanks to all who re-joining, plus new members, our membership stands at 95. This is in line with 2012. Many are taking the trouble to attend monthly meetings.  Seeing 35 to 42 enjoying themselves makes all the committee members’ efforts worthwhile.

The signing in book at Strawberry Field is being used which hopefully will appease the National Park!  I have heard from the Chairman of Beaulieu Model Flying Committee, they organise flying at Beaulieu Heath. The National Park has contacted them about us flying at Strawberry Field. Nothing came of my chat. It appears the Park Authorities don’t know how to proceed with us. Time will tell. 

So PLEASE take care with parking, noise and observe no fly zones.

At time of writing no further meetings have been notified as to Stanpit Recreation Ground, Christchurch. We are very hopeful that any alterations won’t curtail our use of the site.  Our current licence runs until 31^st December 2013.

Those who fly at Barton Cliffs must take exceptional care as the cliffs have eroded. It’s slippery! Access for retrieval down the cliff is nonexistent, plus there is the danger that a cliff fall could happen without warning. My advice is to try and fly with another member, then should you decide to go fetch a model down the cliff you have someone watching your gear, plus emergency help.

Fawcett’s pond, sorry, Field has started to dry out. At one time it did resemble a large pond. Being a public area we must always give way to other users.  This site is generally quieter in the mornings, Monday to Friday. Weekends really are a no, no there.

Hopefully you all received the Christmas presents you dreamed of.  Now now boys, I was meaning model AIRCRAFT. I received an HP60 slope soarer. It’s now completed but as I’ve been unwell for a month the opportunity to fly it will have to wait.

Indoor flying has been so popular this winter that we increased our booking to twice monthly.  A small hall but better attended than any other year so far
