Christchurch and District Model Flying Club

Chairman’s Musings

The Chairman in his official capacity

What a winter! I spent 6 weeks building the Avro Vulcan Bomber. All balsa wood construction and excellent relaxation.

Eighteen members enjoyed the hot sausage rolls and mince pies, accompanied by bowls of superb chips, all served at our January meeting. Oh yes, it was FREE, too.

Although many existing members renewed their membership promptly, too many didn’t!

When joining (or renewing) membership our membership sec can issue you with a temporary BMFA membership certificate. This is valid for two months which allows an affiliated member, through C&DMFC, to renew their membership to other BMFA clubs (Beaulieu Model Flying Committee for instance).

If you are a BMFA member through C&DMFC and rejoin late you have been uninsured from 31st December until our membership secretary receives your fees (incl BMFA).  This in turn adds far more work to the membership secretary’s busy schedule AND extra costs for postage, etc for the club.

Now to the point.  If you are reading this and have not rejoined you now also have to add £15 for the joining fee. Our main concern is that ALL aeromodellers are insured at the same level of cover.  Should anyone not wish to be a member of C&DMFC then that’s ok. PLEASE continue to be a member of the BMFA.  Not being a member means NO FLYING at Stanpit Recreation Ground.  This site is for use of Christchurch & Dist Model Flying club members only. Indoor flying will also cost £6 per session (members only pay £2). Fawcett’s Field, New Milton, is also out of bounds to non members.

Our monthly Club meetings continue at The Walford. Currently we only have 3 months without a talk or demonstration throughout the whole year.

For a full update on forthcoming club meetings and club activities see elsewhere in Slope Off.
