Martyn Presnell on airship design

At the February Club meeting we had a very informative and expertly delivered talk on airship design by Martin. He had been very heavily involved in the industry and was able to take us through the techniques and principles involved in the construction and subsequent flight. Much of the work was done with models, which he described as being very difficult to control because of the time lag between a command and a reaction. The real things were much easier to manage, apparently.

Whether you think that airships have a role today, or whether they are the aerial equivalent of barge traffic on the Grand Union Canal, it was an interesting talk and well worth attending.
