Since taking over the Website from Trevor, I have developed a healthy respect for anyone who writes a column in the papers, or who produces anything on a regular basis. How on earth do you find enough to talk about after a few weeks? It’s no wonder that so many writers turn to satire or invective, because it’s much easier to sound off as “Mr Angry” on your pet subject than to pause and think about the real issues involved.  (I was thinking of Richard Littlejohn and his pro-car column in the Telegraph as I wrote this!).

So rather than write all the stuff, I’ve asked you to contribute to both website and Sloping Off, particularly on the Projects pages (http://www.cdmfc.org/html/projects.html) where any builder can share their latest modelling hobbyhorse with the rest of us. It’s easy to take part.  Just send me an email with a photo and a few words at each stage of your Kiel Kraft Dingbat Special and I’ll put it on the web.

As an added incentive, you can then write it all up properly, send it to Tony Dowdeswell (Flying Scale Models), Steve Dorling at AMI or any of the Editors and you might get paid for your work! A 2-page spread with pictures will bring you enough to buy your next set of laser-cut parts, or that outrunner and SC you wanted, or (heaven forbid) enough emulsion to do the whole house and really get some points with ‘er indoors. Or so I’m told.

Thanks in this issue to Andrew Tubb, Ken Spokes, Terry Sullivan and the inimitable Leonard B Wise for doing just that, and to all contributors for making this a most interesting issue.
