After a year’s worth of building effort, Clive’s Spencer Grumman Albatross had a successful maiden on 5 June, at Longham. The model is another Ivan Pettigrew design, in US Coastguard colours.
Trevor Hewson took the controls for the test flight and said it handled perfectly “I’d done three circuits before I realised it needed some aileron trim” and then Clive flew for a series of flights and splashdowns—more time at Longham needed for those water landings!
Congratulations to Clive on a super model, which is now in the Hall of Fame on both the Ivan and the BIMBO threads.
Seen here at the May meeting.
