Christchurch and District Model Flying Club

Chairman’s chatter

Membership now stands at around 106.

Much of my time and ALL of the Club Secretary’s time have been spent preparing and submitting our Planning Application to the New Forest National Park Authority. At the time of writing, 28th May, it’s too early to comment on the likely outcome. We will know by the 19th June.

Myself & Malcolm Bird wish to thank all those who wrote and supported the application. Approximately 40 letters & emails supporting and ONE against.

We will advise the outcome by email and at Club Monthly Meetings. For those with only snail mail it’ll be in the September edition of “Sloping Off.”

The final proposals for changes to Stanpit Recreation Ground have been prepared for ratification at a full council meeting in September of Christchurch Borough Council. Work is likely to proceed early during 2014. The good news is it shouldn’t affect our flying very much, if at all.

This summer we have seen a few more members attending our Friday evening events at Stanpit. It makes the evening far more fun with increased attendances.

Flying off water at Longham Res has been very popular. Don’t forget. You do need a BMFA “A” certificate to fly there alone. Alternatively you may fly if accompanied by a competent “A” cert holder by your side. Don’t forget to place a piece of paper on your car dashboard stating you are with C&DMFC. Lastly, you require a Permit to fly, obtainable from Mike Roach.

Indoor flying has been so popular last winter that I’ve provisionally booked the same hall starting in September until March 2014, twice monthly on a Friday evening. Dates have not been submitted to us, from the school, as yet. Hire fees have not been discussed, either.

Happy landings, Terry
