Diary of flyer episode 14
By leonard B. wise

The Story so far.  B Leonard Wise a trainee model pilot found himself flying a Jet at an Air show. Instead of being congratulated he was thrown out of the arena into the Crowd. Now read on.

I was angry at being so roughly handled when I was thrown into the Crowd that I wanted to go back and remonstrate with the two big men, when I thought better of it. I have often wondered what happens to the Larger louts we saw in Benidorm years ago, fighting and smashing things up. Now I know. Whilst I had right on my side, no good would come from arguing with them. I had a cup of tea to steady my nerves. I had intended to buy a kit before meeting Walter and Mike, then we were going to have a look at the Bring and Buy tent to see if there would be a trainer for me.

To the line of stalls I went, there were dozens of kits. I saw a high wing trainer which I liked. The proprietor had a stack of them so I said how much for one of those my good man. He named a price, I cut him down a bit. We agreed at £85.  How do I know all the bits are there I asked. I will show you he said. I have one open so we looked through it. I saw the instructions, the plans and no end of bits of wood. All laser and C.N.C cut he said, What that meant I have no idea.

'O.K. Squire he asked, Tell you what I will give you a new and unopened one so saying he pulled a box from the middle of the stack.. I met Walter and Mike at 3 pm as arranged. 'Did you see that nut case trying to fly the Jet,' Walter asked. He nearly killed some pilots and made several other crash. e took the transmitter right out of the pilot’s hand and tried to fly it. They are looking for him, so my friend Alf told me.

Ah I thought. They want to offer me an apology and thank me for saving the jet.

For some reason I asked why are they looking for him?  Walter replied, they want to sue him he caused several thousand pounds worth of damage. They are out looking for him now. They regret throwing him out. They should have hung on to him. Alf said they did not get a really good look at him.

We went back to the Car to leave the Kit which I had bought, I put on my sunglasses

and a hat which I had brought, which I hoped would be a disguise of sorts. I did think of wearing my anorak but it was really too hot and it would have attracted more attention. As we went along to the Bring and Buy tent I could see various officious people peering at the passing crowds. I tried to walk behind them.

At the Bring and Buy tent we saw a trainer with engine which Walter said would be just right for me. So again I got out my cash and now I have two planes. We will leave it in the car said Walter, I will take it home and you can come round Tuesday morning and we will put it right.

I was pleased when he suggested leaving early to avoid the traffic, so we had a quiet trip along the motorway to my home. I went into my study shut the door. I could not wait to get another look at my Kit. I opened the Box took out the instructions and found they were written in… GERMAN
