Once again the weather has prevented many members from flying during this long, long period of really cold conditions and northerly winds. I’ve managed to keep my hand in once or twice each week. Not very pleasant in snow, ice and flooded fields.
The indoor flying sessions have proved successful this winter!! Bournemouth University sports hall has been a boon to many of us. It now has a new ceiling and lighting. The one problem with strong lighting is it affects the infrared TXs and their RXs. It’s okay when a model is flown at low levels but, fly above 12 feet or so and the model does its own thing. Just wait and the model will suddenly switch its motor off and plummet down, now advance your TX throttle and it’ll respond again, hopefully before it reaches the floor!
We have purchased a projector and intend putting it to good use at some club meetings. I am submitting a claim from Christchurch Sports Council (the club is a member) for a grant to help with the purchase price. Keep your fingers crossed!
(And here it is at the last meeting - Ed)
The dialogue over Stanpit Recreation ground continues, and as ever, I’m hopeful.
Remember, we, C&DMFC, have exclusive use of this ground for flying R/C electric powered aircraft, helicopters and gliders. We also have the same through New Milton Town Council for Fawcett’s Field and Barton Front. These are public amenities but not for flying models ONLY BY OUR MEMBERS.
Should you have an incident or lose a model PLEASE contact me (07786 887888) and I’ll supply an incident Form. United we stand, divided we fall.
Safe flying and happy landings to all.
